Fly strike is a most distressing condition that can affect most animals but rabbits in particular are very susceptible and unless its caught quickly and treated it can be a very painful killer.
It's also known as Myiasis and it occurs when a fly lays its eggs on a rabbits skin (usually around its bottom). The eggs hatch quickly and then the maggots chew their way into the rabbits skin, this can happen in hours and very quickly become fatal.
